Blogs I <3
I'm pretty lame and mostly read ones about recipes and running but some of them are funny and thoughtful and just fun.
SkinnyRunner: chic makes me wanna run. She is a running machine and really funny. I've laughed out load to CELEBRICIZING page and found out some pretty cool running tips and products from her. She's worth a read.
girl meets life: she is too adorable...if I can say that about a 25 year old chick I've never met? She's a true girl's girl-the kind of girl you'd want next to you at the Nordstrom Rack that tells you to buy that open back top and suggests the best nail polish to go with it. She posts about life in the Big Apple, fashion, and growing up and figuring out this silly thing called life.
A Foodie Stays Fit: This is the first blog I started reading when I was interested in running in Vibrams. She has a whole page about her experience running in them and tips for when you purchase your own pair.
101 Cookbooks: This blog is for serious foodies...something I failed to realize for a long time. Girl be serious 'bout her food. But there's also a page with traveling guides and tips and she posts "favorites lists" about art and photography which is always fun to learn about.
Peas and Thank You: I'm slightly embarrassed to put this one up but whatevs. This is a total mom blog BUT also a vegan recipe blog and has been more than a life saver on several occasions. She makes vegetarianism seem like the norm and easy when a lot of other sources make it seem like all you eat is granola and lettuce. I have her book and she really likes chocolate soooooo we're obvi. supposed to be bffs...or something like that. But ye be warned: Mama Pea is sassy.
xkcd: Ferreeealz I love this website. It's funny and generally provides a point of view only an engineer can (if you know an engineer you'll understand). "Warning: this comic occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors)."
PostSecret: This one is kind of weird. PostSecret started a few years ago when one day it's founder, Frank Warren, handed out blank postcards in the Washington D.C. area that instructed people to anonymously mail one secret on the back to his home address in Germantown, MD. He talks about the power of secrets here. From that one D.C. trip he got a massive response and now people send him secrets from all over the world. He's put out a few books, which I've never read, but I do read the blog Sunday Secrets. Every Sunday Warren posts a handful of secrets he's been sent by both snail mail and e-mail for others to read. It's kind of a strange concept and when I first heard about it I thought "Why would anyone do that? That's just too open for the internet." But I gave it a chance and reading the secrets is eye opening and somehow normalizing. I'm not even sure if those are the right words but the secrets act as these little reminders that we're not alone when we think we must be the only ones who think like this or do that. I don't know, I think to understand you just have to read a post. And, the secrets make you think outside of yourself and I like that...Just watch the video. I've done a terrible job of explaining it.
Marc and Angel Hack Life: This is my favorite blog of all time, ever. Especially this post.
Sipping Espresso: the more articulate side of my story
As far as tumblr goes in the blogosphere I'm not a big fan but I'll check them out every now and again.
Well, now you know how absolutely...vanilla my choices for online entertainment are, but who knows you might find something you like.
...Oh, and I read Jason Mraz's online journal too...totes obsessed? probzzz.
