"If it Makes Me Happy Monday" was nice while it lasted, and maybe I'll jump back on that party train someday, but I think a new series is in order. And since this is my blog I'm dubbing it permissible.
I'm going to call it "The Challenges". They're all probably going to be goofy and awkward, but hopefully they'll put a smile on your face and send some good karma around out little blue sphere.
Drum roll please! (I've always wanted to say that and actually be given a drum roll, but this blog is largely, if not entirely, silent so pretend you hear one-while you're off pretending I'm actually funny)
THE FIRST CHALLENGE:
"Be a One-Word Wonder" (By now, we all know my love for alliteration and assonance...and rhetorical devices in general)
The premise is this: Find at least one person to have a mono-syllable conversation with. See how long you can keep it going before someone slips and uses a multi-syllable word. The person who didn't slip is the winner. Using other languages is welcomed and encouraged.
Stephen read about this in a book and we played it on the plane to Poland, I've played it twice since then. Once in person and once through Facebook this morning. My favorite lines from Aaron were these:
"I now know, all thanks to you. but i type slow since i have to sound out each word to see if they have too much"
"you are an evil thing"
and
"then stop the laugh!"
Out of context they aren't as funny but hopefully you understand that within your own game hilarious combinations of words will be formed and you won't be able to stop laughing.
So here's the actual challenge:
Within the next week (I hope to post one a week) find someone to play this game with, laugh, send out your good vibes, and report back here in the comments with your varied success and/or awkward moments-those are the best to share!
May the odds be ever in your favor!
Ciao :)
